LO1: KTA 1: Evidence of Class Research - Leading Lines, Rule of Thirds and Head Space

Leading Lines:
This photograph uses the tulip fields as leading lines to draw attention to the windmill as they lead directly to it this raises curiosity.

This photograph uses the river as its leading line as it points towards the small village and the valley in the foreground making the viewer focus on the isolated buildings.

This photograph uses the pathway as its leading line as it leads to the woodlands in the distance.
Rule of Thirds
The power points focus in on the mans face and flowers.

Practical task

Leading lines-

The leading lines in this image are in the locker doors this is an effective use of the rule as it leads towards three blurred figures.

The lines in this image created by the hanging panels also effectively lead the viewers eye to the lower third of the image.

The last image is has less prominent leading lines than the others but the line between the orange and black flooring leads the eye to an open door meaning that it has used the rule well.

Head space-

This photo demonstrates the head space rule as Lauren's face is expressing thoughtfulness and there is a large amount of space around her.

There is no expression on Rebecca's face but the body language and head positioning make her thought provoking which is what the purpose of the head space.

In this image there is less room surrounding Lauren's head as the first image but it still matches the criteria of having an emotion expressed and the surrounding objects work with the expression.

Rule of Thirds-

In this image the power points on the left hand side are used to point out Molly and Annabel.

This is the first image demonstrating the rule of thirds, the power points in this image focus in on Becky.

The rule of thirds in this image focus in on the man on the ladder as the power points on the right hand side focus in on his head and feet.
